A unique blend of civil rights and eroticism, self Adoration and anti-social acceptance, truth and fiction, unreserved yet mysterious, Poetry to the People allots audiences with a new appreciation for the art of poetry and spoken word by alloting them with a tag team experience that differs from any other event.
The group is comprised of Milton "Ranik" Jackson and Kendall "Chosen" Exume. Ranik, author of "Life, Liberty and Love," "Fire Light: Some Kind of Wonderful," and his most anticipated release "Freedom: Next Exit" has been performing for almost 10 years. A human rights activist, Jackson has been recognized by Eastern Connecticut State University and was nominated for the Hartford Courant's Tapestry Award (one of the countries oldest newspapers) for his work in the civil rights arena.
At the young age of 22, "Chosen" has "edutained" audiences for almost a half of a decade. Author of "Stimulation through Words", Chosen was recognized by Eastern Connecticut State University in 2005 with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Award for his amazing leadership and activism. With a unique ability to command the stage, Exume has become one of this generation's premier wordsmith's and addresses topics of AIDS/HIV, Relationships, Love and many of the issues facing today's young people.
Poetry to the People has been featured at Columbia University, Trinity College (Hartford, CT), University of Connecticut, University of Florida, Fredonia College (3x), Eastern CT State University (3x), Wilkes University, East Stroudsburg University (3x), the Bushnell (Hartford, CT - 3x), Hesser College, Salem State College, Capitol Community College and more.
